Executive Chairman and CEO

Darrell S. Freeman founded Zycron, Inc. in 1991. The company has grown to become a leading, Tennessee-based information technology consulting firm, employing more than 350 professionals across the country.

As Zycron’s executive chairman and CEO, Darrell provides leadership and is responsible for all operations of the company. He develops the vision and strategy for the company. He is active and involved in all aspects of the organization and is the sole member of the Zycron board of directors.

With Darrell’s leadership, Zycron successfully transitioned from a small company into a burgeoning, highly reputable firm serving Fortune 500 clients and the largest health care, government and utility agencies in the United States. His strong sense about industry trends and timing has enabled Zycron to remain vibrant in an increasingly competitive industry.

He was inducted into the Nashville Entrepreneur Center’s Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2014. In addition to Zycron, he is also the co-founder of two other businesses. As co-founder and co-organizer of Tennessee-based Reliant Bank (Commerce Union Bank (NASDAQ)), Darrell serves on the Board of Directors. He is the co-founder and chairman of Pinnacle Construction Partners which provides a full range of preconstruction planning and construction management services for the public and private sector. And he is the Lead Director for American Addiction Centers (NYSE).

Darrell has a long-standing commitment to the community. In 2012, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam appointed him to the Tennessee Board of Regents, and the Memphis City School Board in 2010 presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation for being a dedicated partner and a positive influence in the community. He served two terms as chairman of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and as former chairman of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee, he led the organization to achieve chapter of the year in 2005.

Other organizations for which Darrell serves or has served on the board are: Centennial Medical Center, Stone Crest Medical Center, Nashville Community Foundation, the Nashville Downtown Rotary Club, the Federal Reserve Advisory Board, the African American Museum of Music Art and Culture, Middle Tennessee State University Board of Trustees and the Nashville Broadband Task Force.

Darrell is married to Memphis native Gloria Freeman and has four children. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
